Weekends are public holidays are 'off peak hours' all day long. So you can travel with it I think. To make sure, contact the train company or a staff in ticket office.

绝大部分车站不会在车站内查票，但是也不一定。一般长途路线肯定是会被查的。
off-peak这种一般是针对工作日的交通高峰时间而说的
