OK I think I can answer the questions.
Yes, it is almost all the same, if the price the same there.
It is easy to get ticket in a machine. But I remember it costs 1GBP in addition if doing so... I was charged once, though not all times, probably because Oxford is a FGW station, not a Crosscountry station. I have no idea.
To get ticket from the machine, you just input the reference code of booking (you will get it after your online payment), and insert the card you used for the payment-in order to verify you. Then it prints tickets automatically, and you pick the tickets at the pick-up box below it.
